FAQs
Do I have to be a resident of Skybrook to join Skybrook Storm?
No, but you do have to be a member of the Skybrook Swim and Racquet Club.
Does my child have to be able to swim the full length of the pool?
Yes, your child should be able to swim the full length of the pool unassisted (meaning they know to hold on to the lane line or swim to the edge of the pool for a break - parents and/or coaches should not have to support the swimmer in the water). Swimmers should be comfortable around water. If you are unsure if your child is ready for swim team, please email the team for additional information.
Swimmers that cannot swim the full length of the pool without adult assistance are encouraged to join Skybrook Spark. Jr. Coaches will be coaching Skybrook Spark swimmers and will be in the pool with the swimmers.
Does my swimmer have to attend every meet?
Your swimmer is encouraged to attend every meet but we understand that, due to family vacations, etc., this may not be possible. This is not a big deal. Once the season is underway, we'll ask swimmers to declare for meets, which is just a fancy way of telling us whether or not you'll be in attendance. We have to know ahead of time what swimmers to expect at each meet, as this affects relays and other events.
Does my swimmer have to attend every practice?
We would love for your swimmer to attend as many practices as possible, but we also understand he/she may have other obligations. This is not a big deal. Please join us at swim team practice as often as you can.
How often do I have to volunteer?
One member of each family is required to volunteer at four meets.
What if I don't want to volunteer?
Skybrook Storm is a summer rec league, and we are unable to field a team without parent volunteers. However, we understand that situations may arise that prohibit you from fulfilling your duties. Should you find yourself in this situation, it will be your responsibility to find a replacement. If you are unable to find a replacement, you will be charged $75 to cover the cost of hiring an individual to perform your duties at the meet.
What does it cost to register for swim team?
Swim dues for the 2026 season are $185 for the first swimmer, $160 for each additional swimmer. Dues cover everything, including coaches' fees, Triad and Swimmingly fees, swimsuits, swim caps, T-shirts, equipment, etc. For the breakdown of registration costs, click here.
How long are practices?
Practices for Skybrook Storm last for one hour, five days per week, for the duration of the season. Click HERE to see our practice schedule.
Practices for Skybrook Park (ages 4-6) are 30 minutes, five days per week for the duration of the season.
Do I have to stay during practice?
Swimmers who are 8 and under must have a parent or guardian at the pool at all times.
Can I stay for practice if I want to watch my child swim?
If you'd like to, yes.
What is your weather policy?
We will continue to hold practice if it is raining, so long as the lifeguards can see the bottom of the pool. If there is thunder or lightning in the area, we must exit the pool for 30 minutes. Be sure to download the SwimTopia mobile app to receive Team Alerts for weather delays and cancellations.
Will my swimmer need a Skybrook Storm Swim Team swimsuit this season?
Yes. We will provide a new team suit for each swimmer every season. Please have your swimmer wear their 2026 team suit to all meets and events, but please do not wear your team suit to practice as it will get picked and faded.
Will we get a Skybrook Storm t-shirt, bag and/or swim cap?
Yes. All swimmers will receive a team shirt and swim cap. Swimmers who are new to Skybrook Storm will receive a bag. Bags will also be available for sale on the Team Store for anyone else who would like to purchase one.
What equipment is needed this season?
All swimmers should have goggles. All other equipment needed for practice and meets will be provided by Skybrook Storm.
Is there a limit to the number of swimmers that can be on the team this season?
The maximum number of swimmers we can have on Skybrook Storm this season is 125. The maximum number of swimmers we can have on Skybrook Spark is 24.
My child is 6 or younger but can swim the length of the pool. Can he/she join Skybrook Storm this season?
Swimmers as young as 5 can join Skybrook Storm, so long as they can swim the length of the pool unassisted.
Swimmers ages 4-6 who are not quite ready to swim the entire length of the swim team pool unassisted are eligible to join Skybrook Spark. Find out more about that program here.
Will the coaches offer swim lessons this year?
Skybrook Storm Swim Team coaches will offer individual stroke instruction for swimmers on the team, outside of regular practice time. The price is $25 per 30-minute clinic. More information to come.
Skybrook Storm also offers stroke, dive, and flip turn clinics for those wanting a little extra attention in these areas. Clinics are offered in a group setting and are an additional charge of $15 per 45-minute clinic. You can sign up for clinics on the Team Store.
I am going to register for the 2026 swim team season. Do I need to download the SwimTopia app? What if I don’t remember my login?
Yes. After you’ve completed your registration, you should download the SwimTopia app from the App Store. Please be sure to “allow notifications.” SwimTopia will be the primary way we communicate with swim team parents this season. This includes weather notifications, practice updates, event information, etc. Your login to the SwimTopia app will be the same login you used when you registered for Skybrook Storm Swim Team.
(Note: You will not be able to log into the SwimTopia app until after you register for swim team. Returning swim team members can use their same login from previous seasons.)
After I registered my child for swim team, my spouse/significant other received an email with the subject line “Skybrook Storm Account Activation Instructions.” Does he/she also need to register for an account on SwimTopia?
Yes. Your spouse/significant other should register for an account on SwimTopia and allow notifications so that he/she can receive rain delay texts and other information we send out. This will be our primary form of communication.
How can I help? Do you need volunteers?
Thank you for your offer! Yes, Skybrook Storm is a parent-run organization that relies on parent volunteers to run a successful season. Parents will be asked to sign up for volunteer positions at four meets when they register for the 2026 season.
Who do I contact if I have questions? Will there be a director available at practice? Should I reach out to the coach?
We ask that you please bring all questions, comments and concerns to the attention of the Skybrook Storm Swim Team directors and NOT the coaches. You may contact us at [email protected]. Your 2026 swim team volunteer directors are Kathleen Otto, Jesi Shaffer, and Liz Tompkins.
