Practice Policies
Behavioral Expectations for Swimmers: Skybrook Storm Swimmers are expected to follow all posted rules and regulations of the Skybrook Swim & Racquet Club at all times. Swimmers must abide by the following behavioral guidelines at team practices, meets and other functions:
1. Swimmers will conduct themselves safely in the pool area. No horseplay or other unsafe behavior is acceptable. The coaches have complete authority to remove a child who is not following this policy from practice after one verbal warning.
2. Swimmers are to respect each other and their coaches. Neither physically aggressive behavior nor profanity is acceptable. Obeying the coaches’ requests and direction is essential to the success of the team and the enjoyment of its members.
3. Good sportsmanship is encouraged: Poor sportsmanship will not be tolerated. Swimmers are encouraged to cheer for their teammates, but booing or discouraging others will not be tolerated.
4. At swim meets swimmers 10 & under should remain in the bullpen area. A short restroom break or similar quick errand is permitted; however, the bullpen is where our volunteers look to find swimmers to get them lined up for their events. Bullpen volunteers will not search for children not in the bullpen.
Consequences for Unacceptable Swimmer Behavior: A coach or swim team committee member who becomes aware of a swimmer’s violation of behavior guidelines, through their own observation or a parent’s complaint, will document the incident in writing. The issue is then addressed with the swimmer and his/her parent(s). A second violation will be handled the same way. If a third violation occurs, the team has the right to terminate the swimmer’s participation on the team for the remainder of the season and registration fees will not be refunded.
